The Complete Guide to Getting Published is an eBook that walks you through the entire process of publishing a book with a major U.S. publisher. From writing “the end” on your m cript to signing your name on your first copy for a fan – it’s all covered.

Hi, I’m Jessica Brody, founder of Novel Selling Secrets and a published author of young and commercial fiction.

In the past six years, I’ve sold nine novels to my publisher, Macmillan Publishing Group and today I’m proud to say that I’m a full-time, working author. I spend all my time, writing, traveling and promoting my books all over the world.

Before I sold my first novel, I worked as a financial yst, and was stuck in a cubicle all day yzing spreadsheets. I desperately wanted to become an author but I didn’t know how…or even where to start. I knew absolutely nothing about the publishing industry. I didn’t know any editors, or agents. I didn’t even know anyone who had ever sold a novel before.

I spent about five years learning the ropes, sending out query letter after query letter, making a ton of mistakes, and of course, getting rejected, until finally sold my first novel, THE FIDELITY FILES. Now, after the five years of trying to get published, and the last six years as a full-time author, I’ve am ed a TON of information and knowledge about the publishing industry and what it takes to sell a novel to a major publisher.

And I wrote this book to share all that knowledge with you. Now you can benefit from all of my mistakes, all of my trials and errors, and hop on the fast track to getting published!

The Complete Guide to Getting Published covers everything I’ve learned about the publishing industry. It’s an A-Z guide to selling your first m cript.

After reading this book, you will be armed with the knowledge you need to go out there and sell your first book. And you can get started immediately by purchasing a copy from one of the bookstores below. Which means you can take the first steps on your journey to getting published right now.

I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to seeing your book on the shelf of my local bookstore!

P.S. I’ve coached a ton of authors on how to get their book published. Here’s what a few of them had to say:

“Because of Jessica’s help, I now have an agent and my first book deal.” -bt gottfred, author of Forever for a Year (sold to Henry Holt Children’s/Macmillan)

“There is a lot of information out there, but I needed one reliable resource to take me through the entire process — from pitching to signing to selling. When it came time to query agents, it was Brody’s research techniques and the Magic Query Maximizer system that landed me my “Top Choice” literary agent. The Complete Guide to Getting Published is the complete package. And as proof, my debut novel sold shortly after reading this book.” -Ara Grigorian, author of Game of Love (sold to Curiosity Quills Press)

“Jessica is the master of perfecting pitches, queries and creating eye-catching loglines! She helped me find the best way to pitch my story and make it stand out in a compe ive marketplace.” – Robin Reul

P.P.S. I realize you may have a few questions for me, so I’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions here:

With all the ways I can self-publish my book today, why should I try to sell it to a traditional publisher? Self publishing makes sense for a lot of authors, but if you wrote a fiction novel, why not try to get it published by a traditional publisher before paying to self publish? With a traditional publisher, you get paid an advance, plus you get a professional editor, a copy editor, proofreaders, an experienced art department to design your cover, and a team of people focused on marketing and publicizing your book. Not to mention distribution – traditional publishers work hard to get your book into all the major bookstores nationwide, in both physical and digital formats. Plus, you get access to international markets as well – not only could you see your book translated into multiple languages, you also get paid advances from foreign publishers. All of this at no cost to you, except some of your time and creativity to properly pitch your book. So why not try for a traditional publisher first? If it doesn’t work out, you can always look at your self-publishing options. Read more…
